Southern Californian straight-edge crew Strife called in famous friends for their second album: Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera and Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares all pop up on In This Defiance, making for a star-studded affair. That said, there’s little glitz and glamour to be found, just tried-and-true hardcore grit as the band channeled influences from Cro-Mags and Leeway to Quicksand and Slayer, the last of whom inspired Strife to record the milestone LP at Sound City Studios.
