Description
Volume One is the album where Sleep first awoke. The trailblazing stoner-metal band’s 1991 debut is markedly different than anything they’d make afterward, with riffs that are doomier than they are fuzzy and suffocating, and a hardcore punk rawness that makes it hard to drift off while listening to in a cloud of bong rips. That said, this is clearly a Matt Pike-led project, and the seeds of Sleep’s signature plod are sewn within these nine, heavy, highly-textured songs.
