While Ozzy’s third solo album came out of great tragedy, having been made in the aftermath of the untimely death of his lead guitarist, Randy Rhoads, Bark at the Moon is nevertheless a howling good time. Ozzy further honed his unmistakable vocal style, while new guitarist Jake E. Lee’s style — which incorporated searing early Eighties shred, galloping chord passages and neo-classical whimsy — had plenty of bite. Between its all-timer title track and deep cut classics like “Now You See It (Now You Don’t),” Bark at the Moon presents the Prince of Darkness at a transitional, though stellar phase of his solo career.
