Description
D.R.I. were one of the first hardcore bands to incorporate the palm-muted chugs, grisly lead riffs and heftier production of the burgeoning thrash-metal scene into their punk blasts, a then-contentious fusion that would become known as “crossover.” The Houston crew wore the term like a badge on their 1987 masterpiece, which featured all the youthful vigor of the NYHC greats channeled through the three, four, five-minute song structures of Overkill and Metallica. Hardcore has never sounded the same since.
