Avenged Sevenfold’s deathbat is to metal what Led Zeppelin’s Icarus is to hard rock. The OC metal titans have displayed their skull-and-batwings logo on almost all of their albums, and their 2013 opus Hail to the King is the most recent to prominently feature the creepy critter. Although the cover harkens back to the face of 2003’s metalcore-focused Waking the Fallen, the band embraced catchier hooks and simpler groove-metal riffs on this bad boy, and its title-track is their most popular song to date.
