Description

Ministry went all in with a furious and frightening industrial-metal sound on 1989’s The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste. The recording sessions at Chicago’s Trax Studios were reportedly tense and prone to violence. Piercing, thrash-style guitars merged with dancefloor grooves on bombastically-paced beaters like “Thieves” and “Burning Inside”. Dentist drill noises, tense war movie samples and bandleader Al Jourgensen’s washed-out but anxiety-riddled screams add an extra veneer of danger. In spite of the chaos — or because of it — it remains an essential, mind-expanding spin for any true industrial fan.
