All Hope is Gone is the Slipknot album that offers fans a little bit of everything. Opener “Gematria (The Killing Name)” and the title-track are two of the heaviest songs they’ve ever made, supplying old-school listeners with a much-needed dose of fury after the catchier, creepier Vol. 3. There’s plenty of atmosphere on here, too, as well as Slipknot’s most moving ballad, “Snuffed,” and the stomping, chant-along single, “Psychosocial.” It’s a bona fide Slipknot smorgasbord, and you need it in your vinyl collection.
