Description

Greg Sage was one of the Pacific Northwest’s first true post-punk heroes. Released in 1983, his Wipers’ third full-length is a cult classic that dialed deeper and darker into the band’s balmy storm cloud of raw-and-raspy vocals, lager-slick licks and surf-subversive melodicism. Full of moody punk romps like “Doom Town,” “Romeo” and its iconic opening title cut, Over the Edge was listed by Kurt Cobain as one of his Top 50 albums of all time, features songs later covered by the likes of Hole and Red Fang, and became a formative influence on anyone from Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis to post-hardcore legends Hot Snakes.
