It’s been more than 30 years since TOOL delivered their landmark debut full-length, Undertow, but it’s still an unimpeachable, dark and heavy classic. That’s probably why the band have unveiled an ultra-deluxe new CD version to further plumb the depths of their Undertow.
The band’s deluxe package went up for sale on their website today (September 27th). In addition to the album, featuring iconic groovers like “Sober” and “Prison Sex,” the deluxe edition features a new, oversized, bound booklet featuring photography based around a sculpture by Vahan Bego. It also comes with a commemorative coin based on the sculpture.
The layout concept was crafted between Mackie Osborne (wife of the Melvins’ Buzz Osborne) and TOOL bassist Justin Chancellor — notably not the four-stringer on Undertow, having joined the band after Undertow’s 1993 release — and you can see the latter doing an unboxing video down below.
