It is not just another fucking day for Serj Tankian. In fact, the beloved System of a Down frontman just released his latest solo EP, Foundations. And he’s celebrating that fact with a music video behind the record’s journeying “Cartoon Buyer.”
The performance-style vid first finds Tankian gently strumming an acoustic guitar while colorfully likening himself to both a “kung fu lover” and a “fighter six feet under.” The tune takes a giant swerve towards the electric, though, with huge and punky guitar riffs and crack-of-thunder drumming soon complementing Tankian’s signature higher-range vibrato.
The lyrics then take the frontman from California to Argentina, to Saudi Arabia, to Tunisia and more. You can check the hard-hitting travelogue up above.
As previously reported, Foundations is a newly-recorded collection in part comprising pieces Tankian first began writing more than 20 years ago. Earlier, he’d teased the set via his “A.F. Day” and “Justice Will Shine On.” The EP is officially streaming in full as of today (September 27th). You can pick up a copy of the EP on dark blue marble vinyl over in the Revolver shop.
