Following some cryptic online teasing earlier in the week, Three Days Grace have officially confirmed that OG vocalist Adam Gontier is back in the band, with the veteran Canadian rockers now moving forward with a mega-sized new lineup.
Yesterday (October 2nd), the band’s various socials accounts uploaded a purportedly candid phone message from Gontier to guitarist-vocalist Matt Walst, with the former saying to the latter: “Hey Matt, it’s Adam. I’m just running a few minutes behind, but I will be at the studio soon. If you could just let everybody know.”
That got fans wondering what was up, considering Gontier — who had intially left the band in 2013 — had also taken part in live performances of defining tracks like “Hate Everything About You,” “Never Too Late,” and “Riot” with his old band back in 2023.
Now, it’s been fully revealed Gontier is a full-time member of Three Days Grace again. Matt Walst will continue singing and playing guitar, too, while the band is rounded out by bassist Brad Walst, lead guitarist Barry Stock and drummer Neil Sanderson. While the full details on their next step have yet to be revealed, album plans and tour dates are expected sometime in the near future.
“I feel like it’s been seamless, better than we were expecting,” Gontier said of the reunion in a statement. “It’s like we got back in a room together and picked up where we left off. We have been friends for so long it’s kind of natural to get back in the room together.”
Matt Walst added: “It’s been so much fun and inspiring making this record. Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something that no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!”
Gontier had founded Three Days Grace alongside Sanderson and Brad Walst under the name Groundswell in 1992. They changed their name to Three Days Grace in 1997, and released their much-acclaimed self-titled debut LP in 2003. Their last album was 2022’s Explosions.
