Sol Invicto — the long-running, almost-mythical underground metal project spearheaded by Deftones‘ Stephen Carpenter , Cypress Hill‘s Eric Bobo and producer-guitarist Richie Londres — have announced their long-awaited debut EP, Loosely Aware, and unleashed its pummeling lead single “The Obvious Play.” The song features guest vocals from Sean Plague of Plague to Pyres, the Norwegian/British noisecore band signed to Carpenter and Londres’s label, Omyac Records.

“It’s been quite the journey to get this to the people, just a taste of what’s to come,” Sol Invicto commented in a joint statement of the new song and the forthcoming EP.
Loosely Aware marks the band’s first proper release since their extremely rare 2017 double album, Initium, a collection of demos and experimental tracks that was available only to members of their private club, Sol Invicto Comiti. In addition to percussion from Bobo, the EP also features drummer by Sikth’s Dan Foord.
