Ozzy Osbourne’s monumental solo career is about to be celebrated through his upcoming induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this month. And while the Prince of Darkness hasn’t quite confirmed whether or not he’ll be singing at the ceremony, an all-star cast of musicians including Maynard James Keenan, Zakk Wylde, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and more are seemingly set to hit Cleveland, Ohio to perform a few of his hits.
A new promo from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame confirms that a number of musicians will be on-site at the live induction ceremony on October 19th to celebrate Osbourne’s storied career as a solo artist (he’d already been inducted into the Hall in 2006 as part of Black Sabbath).
Though the details on how the performance will roll out will likely be kept under wraps until the show, the Hall has revealed that the Ozzy portion of the night will feature appearances from friends and past collaborators including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, producer-guitarist Andrew Watt, country star Jelly Roll, Wolfgang Van Halen, Billy Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, and more.
It’s also teased that comedian and Ozzy “superfan” Jack Black will be “presenting.” It’s added that “it’s not a ‘Shot In the Dark’ to say that this tribute is about to be legendary.”
The ceremony takes place at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse arena, and will be broadcast live on Disney+. The night will also celebrate the careers of Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang and A Tribe Called Quest.
When Osbourne’s solo spot in the Hall was confirmed this past spring, the singer told Billboard that the honor “feels different” than his previous induction with Black Sabbath, “because my solo career, it’s been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole.”
As for an Osbourne performing at the ceremony, it’s as-yet unclear if he’ll be taking the stage. When asked by Billboard about this earlier in the spring, though, he quipped, “You never know.”
Ozzy’s last live concert appearance was in the fall of 2022, when he performed a pair of songs during the halftime show of a Los Angeles Rams game.
