SPOTLIGHTS launch GoFundMe after U.K. van robbery

Pittsburgh sludge-gaze trio Spotlights have launched a GoFundMe after getting robbed during their European tour this week.

“After eight years of dodging the unfortunate inevitable, our van was broken into in Manchester, U.K. Help us out if you can,” they wrote in an Instagram post, which directs fans to their GoFundMe page.

The Ipecac-signed outfit — which features Revolver’s Brand Partnership Director, Chris Enriquez, on drums — were taking on their first-ever headlining run in the U.K. when thieves broke into their van and stole many personal belongings. Fortunately, the band’s equipment was not in the van, so they can continue with the rest of their European dates.

They explain: “We’re extremely lucky that we had all of our equipment with us at the time but Chris, our sound engineer Terence, and our driver/merch Ian all had their luggage stolen. There were laptops, iPads and all their clothes and personal belongings in there.

On top of that we have to pay a hefty deductible to the rental company for insurance.

We’re hoping this doesn’t interfere with any shows and we are able to continue on to finish the EU portion of this tour. Our first priority is getting clothes and toiletries for the ones who lost them.

If you are able to help, we’ll be eternally grateful. We’ll try to make it up to you by keeping this machine running as long as it can.”

Spotlights’ tour picks back up in Zurich, Switzerland, on Sunday (June 16th), which begins a run of fest appearances and club shows with Mr. Bungle. You’ll find the dates below, and the GoFundMe here.

Spotlights’ last release was 2023’s Alchemy for the Dead.
