After reuniting earlier this year to perform their first shows in a decade, reactivated nu-metal unit Snot have announced that they’ve hit a recording studio to track a pair of freshly written tunes — marking their first new music in 25 years.
News arrived over the weekend, with a post on Snot’s Instagram account yesterday (July 13th), confirming that the band had entered the Dead End Studios in Palm Desert, California, with producer, engineer and mixer Chris Collier (Korn, Prong) to track two “brand new songs” they say should arrive sometime between late 2025 or early 2026.
A separate video message from guitarist Mikey Doling (transcribed by Blabbermouth), add details on how much has been tracked thus far — with drum beds, guitar overdubs and more already in the can.
“I’m just so happy with the results of the studio yesterday,” he said. “It was incredible. We just crushed it, man. And listening back to it, that excitement where you just can’t believe what you’ve accomplished — well, we’re there right now, musically. And the next step is to drop some vocals on those songs. But first of all, we’ve got some shows to do.”
The tunes will be Snot’s first since the release of 2000’s Strait Up, the album the band had recorded with a multitude of vocalist — including System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian, Korn’s Jonathan Davis and more — to pay tribute to late vocalist Lynn Strait, who had passed away in a 1998 car crash. (Snot’s last release was the 2002 live album, Alive!, featuring a 1998 set recorded at The Palace in Hollywood.)
The current Snot lineup includes Doling, bassist John “Tumor” Fahnestock, drummer Jamie Miller and new vocalist Andy Knapp (Stronger Than Machines), who made his stage debut with the band in Anaheim, California, this past January.
While longtime rhythm guitarist Sonny Mayo had initially been playing Snot’s reunion shows, he left the project in the spring. God Forbid’s Doc Coyle had stepped in for some live shows, though he is not pictured with the group and Collier in yesterday’s post.
