The surviving members of Vimic — the hard-rock group co-founded by late Slipknot/Murderdolls member Joey Jordison — have revealed that they’ve drafted Crypta drummer Luana Dametto into their lineup for their upcoming reunion show.
News dropped via Vimic and the Brazilian death metal drummer over the weekend, with it being confirmed that Dametto will indeed be hopping behind the kit when Vimic hit the stage for their October 3 show at Los Angeles, California’s Teragram Ballroom.
As previously reported, the record release party behind Vimic’s long-awaited Open Your Omen LP raises funds for the Joey Jordison Charitable Fund. The band have described Dametto as their “special guest drummer” for the night.
The band said in a joint statement: “Luana is an incredible talent with power, precision, and passion behind the kit, and we’re absolutely thrilled to have her sit in for this unforgettable night honoring Joey Jordison and the release of Open Your Omen.”
For her part, Dametto explained in her own statement that Jordison was a formative influence on her drum style, and praised the late percussionist for his “true emotion and passion.”
“Joey was my first drum idol ever (and still my biggest) so at the very beginning, he was my only reference, and what a great reference I picked to have,” she said. “From his blast-beating style and his relentless double bass, to just how creative his fills and grooves can be, he shaped entirely how I think about drums.”
As reported in the spring, a successful Kickstarter campaign is bringing Open Your Omen to vinyl and CD. The album had been teased by four singles: “Simple Skeletons,” “She Sees Everything,” “My Fate” and “Fail Me (My Temple).”
The record had originally been planned to be released in 2018, though those plans changed following the passing of producer Kato Khandwala (The Pretty Reckless, Pop Evil). Jordison passed away in 2021.
