Ahead of their upcoming North American headline tour, Fred Durst-endorsed electro-punk vigilantes Wargasm have unleashed a sardonic new single, “Small World Syndrome,” and its bitingly surreal music video.
“Do you ever feel like there’s a bit less magic in the world?” Wargasm’s Sam Matlock and Milkie Way commented of the song, which amply showcases the duo’s sense of humor. “You wake up one day and the venues, the cafes, the cinemas you loved have been shut down. The things that make the world special are bulldozed by greed and homogenization. Reality gets smaller by the day. Maybe the world’s not smaller — there’s just less in it. This is a little song about that. Your feelings are better out than in.”
As for the video, according to Wargasm, it was “shot in a bizarre world where backstreet lobotomies are the norm and deceivingly hench old ladies loiter on park benches to attack unsuspecting ASBOs. Oh, and Milkie is running for leader.”
They conclude: “You gotta be honest with us: somehow it still doesn’t seem as surreal as the mindfuck world we all actually inhabit…”
