A few days ahead of launching their summer tour alongside Bush and Morgan Wade, hard-rock favorites Shinedown have unveiled a “sick” new single: “Killing Fields.”
The band’s latest track is their third single of 2025, following their high-charting “Dance, Kid Dance” and “Three Six Five.” This time around, the band start things off with eerie-toned acoustic melodies and tongue-twisting lyrics from vocalist Brent Smith.
The song ultimately vaults through huge-as-hell modern-rock hooks and full creep-mode, piano-assisted walkdowns akin to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s central Phantom of the Opera motif. Lyrically, Smith seems to hint at troubled interpersonal relationships (“We’re not sick, but we’re not well”) and how codependent situations can often spiral out of control (“We’re just toxic twins on a carousel”), but the words could also speak on a larger level to a fractured society and political polarization.
However you interpret it, according to Smith, the song “is meant to push you, to inspire you to think for yourself, and ask questions… We all know we are living in complicated times… The true question is, how will you respond.”

As previously reported, the group will be resuming their “Dance, Kid Dance” tour July 19th at Boston, Massachusetts’ TD Garden. The trip, which features Bush and Morgan Wade on select dates, runs til the end of August, and then Shinedown handle a headlining Rocklahoma slot on August 31st.
