It has long been said by Ministry’s Al Jourgensen that “(Everyday is) Halloween.” That clearly includes today (March 31st), as he and his band have just formally unveiled a new music video for their recently re-costumed and re-recorded, “Squirrely Version” of Minstry’s early, synth-pop-styled single.
The video arrives on the heels of Ministry’s recently-released The Squirrely Years Revisited album, which finds the act celebrating their synth-pop heritage via revamped version of cuts from 1983 debut LP With Sympathy, 1986 follow-up Twitch and, obviously, 1984 standalone single “(Everyday is) Halloween.”
As for the video, it finds a handful of first-wave goths exiting their coffins to prowl the streets. One lady, who is cranking a Ministry tape in her vintage Sony Walkman, flings some ominous CGI goo onto a small group of businessmen, though we find out later that the substance seems to have put the trio into the Halloween spirit.
Later, Jourgensen’s disembodied head sings through the song atop slithering, snake-like visuals. There’s also a gothic warehouse party to behold, as you can see up above. Eighties-era record-scratching abounds.
Ministry’s The Squirrely Years Revisited is out now via Cleopatra Records. As previously reported, the group kick off a North American tour in late April, which finds them joined on select dates by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Nitzer Ebb and Die Krupps.
