See KORN’s grotesque animated video for ‘Diablo’ song “Reward the Scars”

Over the past few days,  Korn released their Diablo-themed new “Reward the Scars” single — their first track in four years — and them promptly gave the song its live debut at Sick New World. Now, the nu-icons have unveiled a gloriously grotesque animated video to further serve the video game’s  “Lord of Hatred.”

As previously reported, “Reward the Scars” arrives as part of the rollout for Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred expansion pack, and we’d previously praised the tune as a “devilishly divine…fiery performance full of underworld grooves and quest-driven introspection from Jonathan Davis.”  Korn’s frontman now fully confides that he’s a massive fan of the hellacious gaming series.

“I’ve played Diablo for years, so getting to step into that world creatively felt natural,” Davis says in a statement. “I’ve always connected to the darkness in the game and the idea of confronting what lives beneath the surface –– that’s something Korn has explored in our music from the beginning.

He continues: “‘Reward the Scars’ came out of our own writing sessions as a new Korn song, and it became clear pretty quickly that it was a natural fit for Diablo.”

You’ll find a video for the track up above. It features performance footage from Korn, as well as animated scenes from Passion Pictures, where a holy figure becomes something utterly bestial in front of a flock of followers.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred is out today (April 27th) via Blizzard Entertainment.
