Coming off last week’s release of Killswitch Engage’s new This Consequence album, the American metalcore greats are now transmitting a music video for the record’s anthemic, peoples-unifying “Collusion.”
Directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts, the video finds Killswitch filming a heavy performance of their latest track in some unknown bunker.
Set in a dystopic, if believable world where billboards are filled with secret slogans and newscasts are stoking fear and division, the vid then finds a hacker breaking into the global mainframe to broadcast KSE’s heavy rally anthem, which features hard-knuckled-but-heart-swelling melodies and a round of screams dedicated to those “who refuse to bow down.”
As you’ll seen in the player above, this all seems to spiral a cabal of shadowy, Dr. Strangelove-esque figures into a serious panic.
“‘Collusion’ is about the struggle between people in power and the common people,” vocalist Jesse Leach explained in a statement. “It speaks about the propaganda and divisiveness used to keep us in control. It’s about the ruthlessness of the ruling class who use wealth to raise, manipulate, and destroy empires at their will.”
He continues: “I wish for people to use discernment and intellect to read between the lines. My hope is to instill a desire for analyzation and critical thinking amidst the current rigged and corrupt forms of governments the world over.”
