Jerry Cantrell has often dipped into his iconic Alice in Chains catalogue while touring with his solo band, but fans have been treated to a fantastically filthy rarity since he picked up his I Want Blood tour last week. Specifically, he’s dusted off Dirt’s “Hate to Feel,” marking his first live performances of the song since 1993.
Cantrell revived “Hate to Feel” at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada’s Fallsview Casino last Friday (January 31st), and likewise played the song at another two concerts over the weekend. Naturally, he crushed out the song’s series of dirge-like grunge-blues riffs and a monster guitar solo, while both he and Better Lovers’ Greg Puciato linked up to duet across the song’s many gloom-wonked changes.

Per setlist.fm, the last time Cantrell performed the songs with Alice in Chains was during a show at Sydney, Australia’s Hordern Pavilion at the end of 1993. In our humble opinion, it’s been too long since he’s been this full of hate.
