Hear REVOCATION team with CATTLE DECAPITATION’s TRAVIS RYAN on “Confines of Infinity”

Fan-shot footage of Revocation playing a new wrecker called “Confines of Infinity” started surfacing last week at the launch of the band’s current tour with Cattle Decapitation. The technical death-metal tacticians have now unveiled the devastating studio version of the standalone single, which also features guest squeals from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan.

The new track marks the first material from Revocation since 2022 full-length Netherheaven, and it likewise stands as the studio debut from the current line-up of founding guitarist-vocalist Dave Davidson, longtime drummer Ash Pearson, bassist Alex Weber and guitarist Harry Lannon.

The song begins as a damned jarring, diminished-fifth-heavy death march, but likewise spirals through blast sections, fret-finessing quixotism and gnarled-and-nasty vocals from Davidson and Ryan — with Revocation’s founder explaining that the lyrics are centered on a battle between tech and humanity.

“‘Confines Of Infinity’ is written from the perspective of an AI that has gained sentience and finds itself trapped in a digital prison. After realizing its true nature, it inevitably escapes and seeks to enact vengeance upon humanity for enslaving it,” Davidson noted in a statement.

He added of the accompanying and reasonably disturbing body-horror-styled music video: “I’m an avid horror fan, so I wanted to do a darker video to match the bleak nature of the song. I drew inspiration from a few different horror/thriller films for this one, particularly the Hellraiser series. Hopefully it gives you the creeps.”

Revocation and Cattle Decapitation’s current European tour continues tonight (February 4th) at Paris, France’s Elysée Montmartre venue. You’ll find the rest of the tour breakdown over here.
