Evanescence have followed up the recent premiere of their anime anthem “Afterlife” with a full-blown, in-the-flesh music video for the Devil May Cry-themed nu-ballad.
Following a teaser vid on socials earlier this week, the band premiered their “Afterlife” video today (April 17th). While an earlier video highlighted animated footage from the Netflix show, this time around we’re treated to a more band-centric performance.
At first, vocalist Amy Lee reanimates herself from beneath what seems like a white sheet you’d find in a funeral home. She starts pacing through a rundown lodging from there, singing straight into the camera before finding her way into a room with the rest of Evanescence. And then they rock through the track together.
The video likewise screens a few Devil May Cry scenes on walls and bedsheets, and you can see how that all co-mingles by giving the video a peep up above.
Devil May Cry is screening now on Netflix, while the “Afterlife” single is also available to hear on streamers.
Earlier this year, Lee told Loudwire Nights that her band “are happily, deeply in the creative process” with new music, but Evanescence have yet to formally announce a follow-up to 2021’s The Bitter Truth.
