Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe are the latest hard rock groups to hit the destination festival circuit.
A new event dubbed Rock the Tides will be bringing a number of hard rock veterans out for a luxury experience in Rivera Maya, Mexico. Described as an “epic escape in paradise,” the inaugural Rock the Tides runs November 7th-9th.
The fest is being presented by the concert promoters Festication, who had launched their TOOL Live in the Sand experience in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic earlier this year. The acts set to join Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe include Poison’s Bret Michaels, Extreme, Living Colour, the Struts, Buckcherry, Dorothy, Moon Walker and Velvet Daydream.
“Mexico has always been one of the most electric places we’ve played – the energy is just unreal,” Mötley Crüe wrote in a joint statement. “Some of our most unforgettable shows have happened there, and we know this one will be no different. We’re excited to head back, team up with Def Leppard, and throw one hell of a party for everyone making the trip. It’s going to be an epic night.”
As with other Festication events, Rock the Tides is being hosted at all-inclusive beachfront resorts, this time at Barceló Riviera Maya and Barceló Maya Grande. Per a press release, the shows are being staged “just steps from Mexico’s white-sand beaches and turquoise coastline,” while off-site excursions and curated vacation experiences include catamaran sailings to cenote swims.
Trip packages include a resort room, unlimited food and drinks, access to all concert performances, and likewise transportation between the resorts and the airport.
“This experience goes way beyond the show—it’s a weekend in paradise, a dream vacation with intimate performances from two legendary bands,” Festication’s Donnie Estopinal explains. “We’re pushing the boundaries of what a live event can be and this is one fans will never forget.”
Pre-sales for next fall’s inaugural Rock the Tides go live next Wednesday (April 23rd). You can find our more info over here.
