Youth Code have unveiled another malicious taste of their upcoming Yours, With Malice EP. This time, the Californian EBM contortionists are previewing their first release in four years with a melody-screeching body mover titled “In Search of Tomorrow.”
On the one hand, the synth layering on the pulse-quickening cut lands a touch softer than the EP’s first single, “No Consequence.” It’s a bit of an aural bait-and-switch, though, because those cloud-gauzy textures also arrive alongside crunching mechano-beats and a gruff-and-grizzled scream sesh from Sara Taylor, whose all-intensity performance hints at sleepless nights, anxiety and more.
A visualizer continues the car crash theme first explored in “No Consequence,” but the wreckage gets even more spectacular. You can see the metal-twisting results up above.
As previously reported, the five-song Yours, With Malice is Youth Code’s debut release with new label home Sumerian Records. The songs were crafted through a period of “deep introspection,” and were inspired by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Front 242, Cabaret Voltaire and more.
Yours, With Malice sees release May 16th and is available for pre-order on exclusive “purple bone & olive twist” vinyl in Revolver’s shop.
