We Came as Romans are back with their first new music since the release of their acclaimed 2022 album, Darkbloom. That release was the metalcore veterans’ first full-length since the 2018 death of vocalist-keyboardist Kyle Pavone, and their latest single “Bad Luck” finds WCAR kicking off yet another new chapter in the band’s history, while still reflecting on the trails and tragedies in which they’ve been forged.
Opening with a eerie looped sample, the song then launches into heavy riffage before hitting a big, signature WCAR sing-along chorus: “I spent all my life wondering why the bad luck always comes so easy… All this time, I’ve realized the worse things in life are free.”
“’Bad Luck’ is a song that is so important to each of us,” WCAR frontman Dave Stephens commented. “Lyrically, it’s about our journey as a band since the very beginning. We’ve faced so many setbacks and problems behind the scenes, and sometimes it feels like Bad Luck is all we have — but the way that we’ve persevered through all of them to become who we are today is the real story, not the issues along the way.”
While “Bad Luck” marks the group’s first new song of 2025, the rest of the year looks to be busy for the band, who are set to play major U.S. summer festivals including Welcome To Rockville, Inkcarceration, the returning Warped Tour, Louder Than Life and When We Were Young. Stay tuned for more news.
