Globe-dominating pop star Dua Lipa rode through a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” last night (March 17th) during the first date of her current tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The cover took place eight songs into Dua Lipa’s first of five shows at Melbourne, Australia’s Rod Laver Arena, as part of her world “Radical Optimism Tour.” Following a few original numbers, Dua Lipa noted she had a “fun, crazy idea” to cover something different and regionally-specific every night on this leg of the tour.
“I thought, ‘Let’s do a local artist in every place we’re in,’” she said. “So obviously Australia has an abundance of amazing musicians… We thought we’d go really, really big. From the very beginning. If you know it, sing it.”
And that’s when Dua Lipa and her 7-piece band paid their dues by paying tribute to AC/DC’s 1979 classic. You can see footage of the pop star, her band, and seemingly a whole damn Australian arena singing their way through the song via the fan shot footage up above and down below.
Dua Lipa’s tour of Australia and New Zealand runs until early April, while her “Radical Optimism” trip hits Europe in the spring and then rolls through North American arenas in September and October. You’ll find all the date details here.
