Instru-metal mainstays Pelican have spread their wings and shaken out another preview of their forthcoming Flickering Resonance, the first full-length release from their classic lineup in 16 years. This time around, they’re floating us a vibe-heavy groove-out called “Indelible.”
The new track follows first single “Cascading Crescent,” and as with that one, the front-end of “Indelible” is dripping in magma-hot metal riffage with a side-serving of sludge. The seven-minute epic also takes a big swerve, though, while plunging into a more atmospheric and eerily melodic backend.

As previously reported, Pelican’s Flickering Resonance marks the first full-length release from the band since founding guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebec rejoined the flock in 2022. It’ll be their first LP project with him since 2009, though the Chicago, Illinois outfit last delivered the Nighttime Stories album in 2019.
Flickering Resonance is out May 16th via Run for Cover. The group are also issuing a 7-inch release for “Cascading Crescent” that will feature an exclusive alternate version of the that single featuring vocals from Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly.

Pelican are also out on a U.S. tour at the moment with fellow Midwest instrumentalists Russian Circles, and have various North American and international dates coming up between the spring and summer.
