See DEFTONES play “Cherry Waves” with PHANTOGRAM’s SARAH BARTHEL in Quebec City

Deftones just spent the past few weeks out on tour alongside pop-twisters Phantogram, with the latter acting as direct support on the first leg of the headliners’ North American summer tour. Phantogram’s last show on the trip was this past Sunday (September 7th) at Quebec City, Quebec’s Videotron Centre, and to celebrate the moment, Deftones’ invited the band’s Sarah Barthel out on stage to sing “Cherry Waves.”

The collaborative moment took place during Deftones’ encore, with Barthel clasping a mic and singing the Saturday Night Wrist favorite near a guitar-strapped Chino Moreno. You can see how they connected for the cut via the fan-shot footage up above and down below,

“Cherry Waves” itself has been riding a new wave of popularity, having blown up on TikTok in recent times, and likewise having gone platinum this past July. The song also recently made it into Revolver’s Fan Poll around the sexiest Deftones songs of all time.

Last night’s (September 8th) Deftones concert in Montreal, Quebec marked the first date on their current headlining run with direct support from post-punks IDLES, and it likewise featured an opening set from tour mainstays Barbarians of California. The trek resumes tomorrow (September 10th) at Cleveland, Ohio’s Rocket Arena.
