With Kublai Khan TX‘s forthcoming fall tour set to launch in under two weeks, hardcore’s supreme rulers have unveiled a heavy new travelogue to take along with them — and it’s been given the scenic title of “The Mountain of Corsicana.”
The latest Kublai Khan TX song is the first new track from the band since the release of last year’s Exhibition of Prowess — though vocalist Matt Honeycutt did recently appear on the latest Despised Icon single.
A joint statement from the band describes “The Mountain of Corsicana” as having been written “as a monument to the final man” — and sure enough, only the strong will survive.
The cut is full of natural-disaster drum pounding and hill-leveling guitar damage, and caps with a disgustingly decelerated backend breakdown. Honeycutt’s heaving cries of “You wanna go?” sound much less like a friendly vacay invite to the mountain than a rage-fueled and battle-ready warning.
The vid, meanwhile, pairs punishing performance footage with majestic scenes of a wild stallion solitarily strutting through the hillsides. You can take in the scenery of “The Mountain of Corsicana” up above.
As previously reported, Kublai Khan TX are due to hit a few fests this month before heading on their headline tour — which will feature support from Drain, Gideon and Guilt Trip.
This will be the band’s first headline tour without guitarist Nolan Ashley, who’d announced he’d exited their lineup earlier in the year, following chronic physical challenges after a 2023 disc replacement surgery.
