After going public with their private music single “my mind is a mountain” late last week, venerated alt-metal kingsnakes Deftones have now slithered out a music video to accompany the long-awaited, and Revolver-favorited, cut.
Before they officially pulled the video out of the negative spaces and posted it online, Deftones’ delivered a super-quick teaser on socials earlier in the week that presented a behind-the-back-and-birds-eye view of vocalist Chino Moreno pacing back and forth in anticipation of Stephen Carpenter’s melodically chunky intro riff.
Now, you can see all of Deftones going buck wild in a darkened room for the vid, delivering all-caps ENERGY as the band enter their decidedly lower-caps-scripted new era. You can see said visuals via the player up above.
As previously reported, private music — Deftones’ first album in five years — was produced alongside longtime studio collaborator Nick Raskulinecz. The 11-song album, which follows 2020’s Ohms, was tracked at various studios, and included sessions in Malibu and Joshua Tree, California, as well as Nashville, Tennessee.
private music is due out August 22nd via Reprise/Warner Music and can be pre-ordered on limited-edition clear vinyl, as well as on CD and cassette, in Revolver’s shop.
Deftones also kick off a leg of North American headlining dates at Vancouver, BC’s Rogers Arena on August 22nd. The group will also play a pair of shows with System Of A Down in Toronto, Ontario in September. Those date details can be peeped over here.
