Well, ain’t this fresh?
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from 3TEETH, but the industrial-metal crew have returned with yet another epic cover. Following takes on Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks,” Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record),” the troupe have now opted to take on Guns N’ Roses battle-weary Use Your Illusion rock ballad, “Civil War.”
As you may expect, 3TEETH’s Gunners tribute surges with sinewave-rumbling keyboard tones, but they still slather their “Civil War” with plenty of gnarly bass fuzz and some stylish, if not exactly Slash-styled soloing.
Frontman Alexis Mincolla, meanwhile, gives us a pretty decent Axl, as he whispers, bemoans and objects to the neverending wars, the power-hungry, divisionary ideology, the blood-spilling and more — things that obviously remain valid and concerning some 30-plus years on from Guns N’ Roses’ original track.
“We didn’t cover this track out of nostalgia,” he explains in a statement. “We did it because humanity has this uncanny habit of investing more in ideology than in each other, and that makes us easy prey for the psyops. This cover is a mirror to that cycle. Same bullshit, just in higher resolution.”
