While Knocked Loose recently brought pig squeals and brutal breakdowns to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, former late night host Conan O’Brien revealed he’s been working on his metal screams out in Europe, specifically while performing in-concert with Austrian act Cringe Blizzard.
Metal and comedy fans first caught wind of the unexpected performance late last week when O’Brien took to his Instagram page to note, “Just got a hernia singing with a metal band in Feldkirch, Austria.” The band was self-described “slush metal” outfit Cringe Blizzard.
As you can see via the fan-shot footage above, O’Brien hopped around stage and let out a few feral-ish screams alongside the band’s vocalist, Katherina/Kaddl — with pro footage expected to appear on a forthcoming episode of the comedian’s Conan O’Brien Must Go travel show for Max.
O’Brien already had a history with Cringe Blizzard before the collab, having interviewed Kaddl back in September for his Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast. During that episode, the host floated the idea that he become “a guest vocalist for Cringe Blizzard,” which clearly worked out well for all parties.
An air-date has yet to be revealed for the next season of Conan O’Brien Must Go.
Cringe Blizzard delivered a raw and raging live demo last summer — curious timing for the frigid “slush metal” practitioners. Nevertheless, you can hear the four-song release here.
