As promised, and coming off the release of last month’s surprise “Long Gone” single, now-returned cult post-hardcore group Superheaven have delivered the second half of their two-song debut for new label home Blue Grape Music. Arguably described in-song as “a recurring sad tone,” this latest sad boi speaker-pusher is titled “Numb to What Is Real.”
As previously reported, both “Long Gone” and “Numb to What Is Real” mark the first bits of new music from Superheaven since the band’s Ours Is Chrome full-length from 2015. The newly released “Numb to What Is Real” bounds up and into a pastel purple cloud of distortion and hypnagogic effects work, with the lyrics tunefully, yet grimly detailing the blotting out of emotions and “growing tired losing everyone I knew.”

Superheaven’s new two-song single was engineered by Clarke and drummer Zack Robbins at the latter’s Metal Shop studio before being mixed by Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine). While nothing else has been confirmed as of yet, a press release notes that the songs “hint at what’s to come from the group in 2025.”
The band also begin a short run of dates with the Story So far and Koyo in Phoenix, Arizona tonight (December 10th), and likewise have a pair of UK fest appearances set for next June.
