We already knew this fall would be Poppy season, considering the multi-hyphenate genre-defier is cueing up her Negative Spaces full-length for all to hear this November. Ahead of that, though, she’s going to be tapping into her YouTube-performance-artist roots while hosting an apparently experimental and exploratory new variety show called Improbably Poppy.
Poppy began teasing the project late last week over Instagram, with a quick video showing snippets of the musician — along with felt puppets and a sentient houseplant — reminding us that she is, well, Poppy. Now, a press release confirms that those clips are part of Improbably Poppy, a program produced and performed by the titular provocateur “where we’ll learn, listen, live, laugh, love and probably, a few of us will die.”
The six-episode show will premiere on Veeps on October 11th, and will feature a mix of comedic segments, musical performances, guest interviews “that border on brutal,” and commentary from a sassy cast of puppets. Episode topics include “Free Will,” “Hygiene” and “Taking Risks,” with Poppy promising to provide “subversive commentary” on those themes and more.

As previously reported, Poppy’s Negative Spaces LP arrives November 15th via Sumerian Records. The album was co-produced by Bring Me the Horizon alum Jordan Fish, and will include recent singles “New Way Out” and “they’re all around us.”
