Nine Inch Nails have unveiled the details behind their new music festival: Future Ruins. The inaugural edition of a composer-heavy lineup is being held this coming November, and will feature performances from NIN’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, John Carpenter, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, Italian prog greats Goblin and more.
NIN launched socials profiled for Future Music earlier this week before making the lineup reveal this morning (May 14th). The event is being held November 8th at the Equestrian Center in Los Angeles, California.
“Some of the most powerful music of our time has never been heard live—until now,” reads this morning’s latest Instagram post, which goes on to describe Future Ruins as “a first-of-its-kind music festival of the world’s most influential composers.”
The event will also be hosting sets from celebrated film scorer Danny Elfman, Portishead member Geoff Barrow and his longtime composing partner Ben Salisbury, Stranger Things scorers and S U R V I V E members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, experimental cellist/composer Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir, Isobel Waller-Bridge, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Oscar-nommed composer/trumpeter Terence Blanchard, Tamar-Kali, The White Lotus musicmaker Cristobal Tapia de Veer and more.
The organizers likewise added the specifics behind two sets: the Roots drummer and filmmaker Questlove will be celebrating the film score work of soul legend Curtis Mayfield (Superfly), while Howard Shore will be perforiming the score to David Cronenberg’s 1996 auto-erotica flick, Crash.
Tickets to the first-ever Future Ruins festival go up for sale next Wednesday (May 21st) at 12 p.m., and you can find out more about the event over here.
Ahead of Future Ruins, Nine Inch Nails will be launching their “Peel It Back Now” world tour. That trip runs through Europe and the U.K. in June and July, while a North American leg of dates begins August 6th at Oakland, California’s Oakland Arena.
