METALLICA, ROB ZOMBIE and ALICE IN CHAINS to play Sonic Temple 2025

On top of the rest of Metallica’s next wave of “M72” world tour dates, the thrash veterans have now been revealed to be the headliners at next year’s Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio. While the full fest details have yet to be revealed, Metallica’s first trip to Sonic Temple site will also play out via two “No Repeat Weekend” performances.

Next year’s Sonic Temple takes place at Columbus’ Historic Crew Stadium from May 8-11. Metallica will first be headlining on the 9th, with direct support coming from horror-rocker Rob Zombie. And then on the 11th, Metallica closes out the festival for a second headlining performance, which will be preceded by a performance from Alice in Chains.

“Every year we ask our fans who they want to see at Sonic Temple, and the answer this year was clear — Metallica! We’ve been trying to get Metallica to Sonic Temple for the last five years, and are ready to bring two nights of Metallica to Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio next May,” said Danny Wimmer, founder of concert and festival promotion company Danny Wimmer Presents.

He added of the developing lineup: “This is just the start; we’ll have more than 100 bands playing across 4 stages for 4 days…We’re so excited about this lineup that we’ll be announcing artists daily for the next month, so there’s a lot for fans to look forward to.”

Pre-sales for the Sonic Temple fest go live next Monday (September 23rd), with general ticket sales being made available on September 25th.

A press release adds that the festival grounds will likewise feature a number of Metallica-themed food options, from the band’s signature BLACKENED Whiskey Bar to a BLACKENED Burger Bar, featuring food collaboration conceived by the team behind BLACKENED Whiskey, celebrity chef Chris Santos and Metallica.
