We’ve heard of content farming, but this is ridiculous. The return of L.S. Dunes has yielded not just a brand-new single called “Fatal Deluxe,” but a bucolic music video that find the post-hardcore supergroup rocking out near a group alpacas.
The track is L.S. Dunes’ second single release of 2024, following their Valentine’s Day drop, “How Dare You.” This time around, the group lean into a prog-ish, post-hardcore swell of spiraling guitar lines and thick grooves, above which vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive) unfurls a mix of screams and multi-layered melodies.
With the video, we find the band wandering across a farm property alongside sheep and assorted wildlife, enjoying a game of poker, hitching scenic rides in the back of a rusted pickup, and powering through the song in the middle of a rustic landscape.
“In my opinion, ‘Fatal Deluxe’ marks the official opening of chapter two for L.S.Dunes,” guitarist Frank Ieto (My Chemical Romance) added in a statement, “It’s a song that bridges the gap musically between where we were as a band and individually, and catches the listener up to where we are headed. It breaks quite a few conventional rules along the way and wipes clean the preconceptions of what the band is and might be capable of…I cannot wait to play for a live audience.”
As previously reported, L.S. Dunes likewise features bassist Tim Payne (Thursday), guitarist Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria) and drummer Tucker Rule (Thursday). The band have yet to formally announce a follow-up to 2022 debut full-length Past Lives, but “Fatal Deluxe” is streaming now via Fantasy Records.
