It’s a swoon-worthy, gothic team-up like no other: Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy has just unveiled a new single from his upcoming solo album that features a guest spot from Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor. Titled “Swoon,” the swerving synth-funk single is streaming now.
The new single is set to be a part of Murphy’s forthcoming Silver Shade, which is out May 9th via Metropolis Entertainment. The album was produced by founding Killing Joke bassist Youth, and Murphy has described the whole release as being “as powerful as any of my work to date.”
As for “Swoon,” the track hammers hard into an Eighties-esque, echo-laden drum machine beat, vocals-twisting production and squealing guitar work. While Murphy takes the lead, Reznor supports on the second verse.
“I am both in the state of swoon as are my audience when witnessing my live performance,” Murphy said in a statement. “Trent Reznor cordially accepted my invitation to appear on the song, adding a welcome vibe on the second verse, as well as throughout the entire song in the form of backing vocalizing.”
The full details behind Silver Shade have yet to be revealed, but the record will apparently also feature a guest appearance from Boy George. The album will be Murphy’s first set of original solo material since 2014’s Lion.
