Italian goth-metal veterans Lacuna Coil have given us one more toxic tease from their impending Sleepless Empire album. While the album arrives in full tomorrow (February 14th), you can sample the record’s deathly delectable “I Wish You Were Dead” via a morbid new music video.
Though the track hit streamers earlier this week, the band just unveiled the visuals for the dark-brooding but anthemic rocker, which finds vocal powerhouse Cristina Scabbia desperate to erase the memory of someone that had done her wrong (“I wish you were dead/Inside of my head/A particle of dust/That slowly disappears”).
The period-piece music video runs with that extreme theme, initially finding the metal vocalist dropping poison in a teacup and serving up a slice of cake to co-vocalist Andrea Ferro. From there, Scabbia starts swinging axes in their chamber, but also does a lil dance with her bandmate. The rest of Lacuna Coil caper and cavort around the joint while holding a glass casket.
It all ends with a pseudo-romantic, heart-drawing death scene for all you Valentine’s fiends out there. You can see the satirical video up above.
“I Wish You Were Dead” is the latest single release from Sleepless Empire, having been preceded by their “Hosting the Shadow” track with Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, “In the Mean Time,” “Oxygen” and “Gravity.”
