The Warning have been looking for love in all the right places, namely packed music venues and arena settings where the Metallica-and-Yungblud-backed sister trio have been performing their hard rock songs for adoring fans. They keep this up in the new music video for “Love to be Loved,” a new collaborative track with Mexican Regional artist Carín León, which finds the acts taking a chance on the tune in front of a rowdy crowd.
As explained in a press release, the Warning’s Dany, Pau and Ale Villarreal co-wrote the song with the Teddy Swims, Rob Grimaldi, Anton DeLost, Boy Matthews, and Neil Ormandy, and the cut cross-references rock with country and pop flavors. Notably, it’s explained that this is the first track where the multiple Grammy-winning León fully sings in English
León handles the first verse, explaining that he’d rather find love than become a lottery winner. Dany’s sections take a similar tack (“Silver and gold / No, it ain’t gonna save me”), while she and León team-up later in the track to duet a mantra of “No money, no problem.”
Accordingly, the music video first finds León flipping poker tables while the Warning sisters toss darts, play pool, hit the slot machines and flip through a Jukebox filled exclusively with both artists’ catalogues. They give up on their avaricious tendencies to hit the stage at the back of the bar, and riff through the modernized, country-rockin’ chorus for a bunch of fans.
“We are so excited about this song. As a rock band, this is something completely different for us and a chance to explore new sounds,” the Warning wrote in a statement. “Blending musical worlds is always exciting, and working with our fellow Mexican artist Carín León made the experience even more special. It’s a collaboration that pushed us creatively and shows a new side of The Warning.”
