Grammy-nominated electronic producer ILLENIUM’s newly-released ODYSSEY album features guest spots from across the world of music — including rapper Kid Cudi, singer Ellie Goulding and fellow EDM-makers Zeds Dead. Don’t forget, though, that ILLENIUM also has a thing for heavy music.
A few years on from his collaborative track with Spiritbox, ILLENIUM has now unveiled “Slave to the Rithm,” a song that features guest vocals from Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes.
The hi-NRG anthem has ILLENIUM blasting out big drops, swirling synth oscillations and hard-and-heavy EDM beats. Above it all, Sykes sings the hook through an angelic falsetto. He hits some lines around secrecy, paranoia, and “dancin’ ’round like nothing really matters.” He also gives up a few stately growls about how there’s “no escape from the holocaust of consciousness” ahead of a bass-jumbling breakdown.
“I’m so excited that my album, ODYSSEY, is finally out,” ILLENIUM expressed in a statement of the project as a whole. “So much went into creating this project. This album wouldn’t exist without the incredible artists who helped shape it. Every collaboration played a role in bringing it to life. This really is a shared journey, and I’m grateful to finally put it out into the world. Love you guys”

As for Sykes’ full-time gig, he and the rest of Bring Me the Horizon are due to drop into the next leg of their North American “Ascension Program” tour — which also features Motionless in White, Amira Elfeky and the Plot in You — later this spring.
