Suicidal Tendencies have released their first brand new track to feature former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg in the lineup since he joined up with the crossover vets in 2024. The tune is a frantic jolt of punk, funk and thrash-flavored sounds given the most fitting title of “Adrenaline Addict.”
While Weinberg had technically popped up on a re-recorded version of Suicidal’s old Freedumb track “We Are Family” last summer, “Adrenaline Addict” is the drummer’s first chance at really putting his stamp on the SuiCyco brand. Funnily enough, he gets to business right quick, delivering a series of speedy fills ahead of a wildly-fingered bass part from Tye Trujillo (the son of former Suicidal rhythm-stringer and Metallica mainstay Robert Trujillo).
Per vocalist Mike Muir’s lyrics, “Adrenaline Addict” rolls out as a posi-spirited look at pushing yourself to the limit and staring down your fears, while also living by an adrenaline-juicing mantra of “surf, skate and destroy.” It’s also about how punk, metal and thrash should be the soundtrack to your life.
