Spiritbox have officially become a part of Megan Thee Stallion’s Act II. Coming off this week’s announcement that the metal group were once again teaming up with the famous rapper, their collaborative “TYG” single is streaming as of right now.
As previously reported, “TYG” follows Spiritbox’s 2023 rock-style remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Cobra,” with vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer having turned around their contributions in under 36 hours. It’s unclear at the moment how much time the duo had to contribute to this latest collab, which figures in the back-half of the Stallion’s brand new Act II full-length, but you can hear their worlds-building rap-metal fusion — complete with chugging nu-metal-esque guitars and LaPlante’s guttural screams — up above.
LaPlante had previously told Revolver that Megan Thee Stallion is one of her favorite artists, and that working with the rapper was “a fever dream” experience.
Act II officially hit streamers today (October 25th), with Thee Stallion also bringing aboard guests including rapper Flo Milli (“Roc Steady”), K-pop outfit Twice (“Mamushi (Remix)”) and RM of boy band BTS (bonus track “Neva Play”).
As for Spiritbox, they have two more shows left on their current tour with Korn and Gojira, which hits Omaha, Nebraska’s CHI Health Center tonight and St. Paul, Minnesota’s Xcel Energy Center on the 27th. Their most recent single is September’s “Soft Spine.”
