Kicking off in 2021, three-fifths of Avenged Sevenfold — namely, guitarist Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ and drummer Brooks Wackerman — have made it an annual tradition to cover the Misfits for Halloween.

The A7X members’ first two Misfits covers, of “Last Caress” and “Hybrid Moments,” came with performance videos, with Vengeance, Christ and Wackerman rocking the horror-punk pioneers’ iconic skull makeup. Last year, the trio released a version of “Astro Zombies,” audio-only.

Next up for A7X, their Deathbats Club will be hosting a special show at Santa Ana, California’s Observatory venue tonight October 25th. It will find the band performing music pulled exclusively from their breakout 2003 release, Waking the Fallen, and its smash 2005 follow-up, City of Evil.
In an addition throwback move, cult hardcore unit Death by Stereo will play in the headlining spot, with Avenged pulling opener duties. The two bands have a long history together, having toured with each other back in the ‘00s. M. Shadows likewise contributed guest vocals to a pair of tracks on Death by Stereo’s Death for Life album from 2005.
