Rob Zombie is reinforcing his rightful place in the shock-rock continuum with another hard-slamming single behind his impending The Great Satan album. This time around, the veteran vocalist is bashing things out from his basement to deliver the meta-textual “(I’m a) Rock ‘N’ Roller”.
Zombie’s latest single follows early Satan previews “Punks and Demons” and “Heathen Days.” Like the latter single, the video for “(I’m a) Rock ‘N’ Roller” seemingly finds Zombie jamming it out in the practice room with guitarist Riggs, bassist Blasko and drummer Ginger Fish.
While the band laydown a the cosmic glam-slamming groove, Zombie details his love of rock, name-dropping and Easter egg-ing anyone from David Bowie, to T. Rex, to the Sweet to a satin-jammied Jimmy Page.
Akin to the experiences of those heroes, Zombie growls of his “life on an endless road,” and the awesome toll it takes upon on Rock ‘N’ Roller (“Blood dripping from my nose and my ears / 10,000 screaming but I can’t hear it”). Despite this, the self-proclaimed “rotten motherfucker and a son of a bitch” explains that the show must go on.
The vid likewise splices in footage of Zombie’s live shows, which finds he and the band thrilling the masses with their ghoulish stage show. You can see for yourself up above.
