The HU are ready to show you “The Real You.” The heavy Mongolian folk-metal hybridists have returned with their first single of 2026, a reflective and bombastically chugged-and-bowed anthem titled “The Real You.”
The new single was released to streamers today (January 23rd) via Better Noise Music, and is likewise being promoted through a performance-style music video featuring slow-mo footage of the HU rocking a massive festival crowd.
Per The HU’s throat singer and tovshuur player, Temka, the new song’s furious pace is a taste of the band’s in-the-works third LP, which will follow 2022’s Rumble of Thunder.
“While we have traditional songs that have our signature rhythm in our third album, there are few upbeat, fast songs such as this single,” he said in a statement. “We recorded this song thinking of our ancestors, riding fast on the horse back through the landscape. Listen to this song to express the feelings you have buried inside and feel the overwhelming energy we pass through to you.”
Thematically, “The Real You” touches on self-reflection, “human cruelty” and not casting judgement upon others. Temka adds that its lyrics are somewhat based upon the Mongolan proverb, “Don’t worry about what is on top of a person’s head, just worry about what is not on yours.”
