Bit by bit, pop singer Bailey Spinn’s music is starting to trend heavier. Case in point, the Gen Z artist’s latest guitar-crunching single, “critical,” crackles with a stormclouded sound that brings to mind early Evanescence.
Spinn has already garnered over 20 million followers and billions of views across social media, and now she’s taking fans on a dark new ride. Her latest song was produced and co-written with Erik Ron (Panic! At the Disco, Bush, Set It Off, Black Veil Brides), and follows the more pop-bounced, yet still distorted “fear of going out” single from earlier in the fall. Described in a press release as “a raw confession of self-destruction [and] isolation,” “critical” unfolds with a gothically anthemic, nu-brooded arrangement of guitars and heavy drums.
Above all that is Spinn, who senses an emotional storm a-brewin’ (“I feel a disturbance, it’s under the surface”) while tunefully highlighting moments of misery and isolation (“Save me from this hell”). Throughout, the rising vocalist channels Fallen-era Amy Lee vibes with her bounding, heart-swelling approach. You can hear for yourself via the player up above.
Spinn’s recent singles follow 2025 debut LP loser. It’s further teased that Spinn is currently in the studio “working with some of the genre’s biggest collaborators,” but it’s as-yet unclear who those may be. Stay tuned for more music from Spinn in 2026.
