Reach NYC want you to know you’re not alone. The long-running alt-metal outfit have reteamed with old friends P.O.D. to deliver a new united rocker called “I Should Have Known.”
A press release explains that the joint venture — which brings P.O.D. vocalist Sonny Sandoval and guitarist Marcos Curiel together with Reach NYC — was “written for a fellow friend/brother.” It was produced by Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Shinedown) and Chris Marlette, and is apparently “just a taste of what’s to come from the band” in the near future.
As you’ll hear through the player above, Reach NYC’s Rene Mata handles much of the song while singing of the “pain of loss,” while Sandoval hits a mix of soft-to-screamed additions before the song delivers it’s “You’re not alone” messaging in the bridge. Curiel and the Reach NYC guitarists interweave a mix of hopeful and anthemic guitar choices, while the host group’s Dante Renzi and Tim Robbins hold down the rhythm section.
“I Should Have Known” follows Reach NYC’s 2023 “Ride or Die” single. It’s as yet unclear what’s next from the band, though there’s more music “on deck” sometime soon.
